My all-Spike calendar arrived! And I will have one for my sister when I see her this week! Hurray!

I've already hung it in my cube at work where it will taunt male co-workers who requested Buffy calendar for 2003 instead of LotR so they would have babes to oogle. Of course, they are free to oogle Spike all they want.

Heh.
It's baaaaaack....

Did you avoid spoilers for TTT? If so, why? If not, why not?

Avoid them? I sought them out. I mined them out of the dark holes where they were hidden, eager as a Dwarf for mithril. I haunted TORn and prowled the Web in search of the sparkling pretties. I bought the movie guides and visual companions. I bought magazines. I read scans of articles I was not able to get my hands on.

Why? Because when it comes to things that really matter to me, I'm an impatient creature who has issues with delayed gratification.

More importantly, though, the spoilers didn't really spoil anything for me. After all, I know what is going to happen in the story. I've read the book. Many, many, many times. It isn't like I don't know who the characters are and what will happen in terms of plot.

Additionally, there is a world of difference for me in seeing a still from the movie or reading about how a scene will unfold and then seeing the character in the film or watching the scene itself. There's no comparison really. For example, if I had seen stills of Gollum before I saw the film, they wouldn't have robbed me of the wonder of Serkis's performance.

Quite the opposite, in fact. The spoilerish goodness I hunted down with single-minded determination was foreplay; the movie itself was sex. Does foreplay enhance or diminish the act of intercourse? You decide.

Me? I'll be too busy beginning to hunt for information on Return of the King.
