Today was the first fitness class and I hurt all over. All over. I know it will be worse tomorrow, and that worries me. I sense much ibuprofen in my future. The class had a quick warm up, slower cool down, and circuit routine where we cycled between stations (aka different parts of the room).

The Stations (in the order my group did them):
1 - Flat on your back pelvic thrusts. (Yes, the RHPS geek in my wanted to chuckle. So did the slasher.)
2 - Mountain climbing and squats (alternated in each cycle). I could not do the mountain climbing thing, so I had to briskly march in place.
3 - Lunges (stationary and not).
4 - Planks (I did the version from kneeling).
5 - Running in place (I was also marching here by the end.).

We ran though all five of them four times each, and I was dying at the end. Then we did some flat on our backs leg lifts and sorta crunchy things with one leg in the air (again, nearly killed me).

The Good:
1 - I made it through the entire class with the exception of the tail end of the cool down. I shall explain below.
2 - I did not pass out. My boss nearly did, and he is much more fit than I.
3 - My new sneakers are made of win.
4 - My purple gear made me feel happy.
5 - I didn’t do one of the regression things he suggested with the lunges because honestly, while the regular lunge was harder, my brain couldn’t wrap around how to do the easier one.
6 - Despite having a nasty chest cold and chugging the decongestants, I put on the big girl panties and just did it.
7 - At least to my face, people were very encouraging and supportive.
8 - Having a longer Good list than Bad list.

The Bad:
1 - People not in the class popping in and just watching. Motherfuckers. If you aren’t sweating, stay the hell out.
2 - I did not bring a anything to pull back my hair, so I had sweaty mane going everywhere.
3 - I couldn’t do some of the things that everyone else could, and I know I didn’t do the others as well.
4 - At the very end, I nearly threw my body into shock. I think I was really, really close to it. (Explanation below.)

So, decongestants dry you out, and I’ve been taking them and drinking more water because of my chest cold. Well, during all the workout, I was, of course, sweating like a pig. And I kept getting thirstier. And thirstier. And THIRSTIER. At the same time, I was getting hotter and hotter and HOTTER. When I finally grabbed my water bottle and bolted down my ice water, it hit my stomach like a stone. I could feel my stomach lurching, and waves of cold shot through my body. All I could think was, “I’m going to throw up. Oh shit. I can’t throw up. I’m seriously going to be sick.”

Luckily the rest room was across the hall. I excused myself, doused my wrists in cold water, put cold towels on the back of my neck, and the hellish feeling faded. Of course, then I was like, “Fuck, now I have to go back in and look like wuss,” but then other people started coming into the rest room, so all I missed was the tail end of the cool down. Phew.

Lessons Learned:
1 - Perhaps it’s best not to physically challenge your body while sick and taking meds that could have a negative impact on said challenge.
2 - Do not let a hot body quickly ingest very cold fluids.
