Friday Grab Bag...

Today is the sis's birthday, so HAVE A HAPPY ONE slyspider!!!

It's also the day I stayed home with fever and chills and sinus/throat crud so I got to watch coverage of the movie theatre shootings all day long. It's horrifying and tragic when anything like this happens, but I can't help but thinking that a large percentage of the audience were probably fellow members of the geek tribe. After all, didn't they make midnight movies just for us? I know I've gone to my share of them. So it feels a bit more personal. While I know this is an instance of gun violence, I can't help but feel contempt for people trying to spin it politically with respect to gun control. Not when the wound is so raw.

Last night Diana (the protagonist and a witch) and Matthew (the vampire she is attracted to) go to yoga class after she goes out rowing in the early foggy morning on the Thames while he watches her from the bank. Oh, they have breakfast together after she rows and tea after yoga class. And no, I'm not sure why I'm still reading when I put it in those terms. Except I'm curious about this magical alchemical text that is the BIG MYSTERY so far. However, there is only so much I will be able to stand before I need to stop or throw my Nook across the room, which is not fair to the Nook. For the record, the book is about 600 pages and I'm just over 100 into it. That's a long time for not much to have happened.

Thunderstorms were back AGAIN tonight. Since I love storms and since they are keeping the weather cooler, I shall not complain.

I have two more fics to write for onceuponaland, and I'm scared. One has to be crackfic, and well, you guys know me. Things you usually don't see around these parts are schmoop and crack. I'm not even sure if I can formulate and idea for crack or write it once/if I get one. *fears*
