Last night was the Green Day concert, so this morning I'm very tired. Well, not just because of the concert. I was home from that around 11:30 PM and in bed by 1:00 AM, so that not so bad. However, the 2.5 hours of sleep I had the night before because I had to pick my sister up at the airport that day at 5:30 AM, that was the killer.

Still despite little to no sleep, I conferenced during the morning, went to work for an hour and a half to finish two reports, went out to lunch at great Irish place in Beachwood, napped for about an hour, went to the Peabody's before he show, and the went to the show.

So...yeah. Tired. But it is a good tired.

The show was fucking fabulous from the lights to the pyrotechnics to the music to the performance. Fucking. Fabulous. They opened with "American Idiot" and closed with "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)," which were great choices to get things rolling and then quiet them down at the end.

While we were driving to the show, my sister and I were talking about shows we would have liked to have seen, and I said that one band I would have loved to have seen live was Queen. My chance for that is long lost, but Green Day did play Queen last night. The last song before the encore was "We Are the Champions," and if there was a single person in the arena not singing, I'm not sure where that lonely benighted soul was.

The lights during "The Waiting" were among my favorites. They were cool purples and blues and a huge mirrorball dropped down over the stage and reflected light all around the arena. Lovely! There lights during another song, don't remember which at the moment were also nice, all reds and yellows to mimic the flames on the screen behind the band.

And not that I was keeping track or anything, but yes, there was even a lovely slashy moment when the lead singer introduced the drummer as "the one man I would like to shower naked with." Heh.

I'd write more, but Kingdom of Heaven beckons, and I need to shower first. However, if the boys of Green Day are heading to your town, get out and see the show!
