Challenge #10
In your own space, rec a fanwork (fic, art, vid, playlist, anything!) you did not create. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
Before anyone clicks over into my recs, I tend to like explicit fics that can be darker and have an edge to them, so the recs below fit into those buckets. If you are looking for light, frothy fics, these are not the fics you are looking for. Move along. Having said that, yes, I also like other sorts of fics because it’s the characters and story that draw me in and make me read/re-read, not just the kinks/genre.

When I got this fic for Yuletide one year, I almost combusted with glee. Not only did it hit a lot of my favorite kinks, but as an unexpected surprise, it also worked in one of my favorite poems, John Donne’s "Holy Sonnet XIV":
Batter my heart, three-person'd God, for you
As yet but knock, breathe, shine, and seek to mend;
That I may rise and stand, o'erthrow me, and bend
Your force to break, blow, burn, and make me new.
I, like an usurp'd town to another due,
Labor to admit you, but oh, to no end;
Reason, your viceroy in me, me should defend,
But is captiv'd, and proves weak or untrue.
Yet dearly I love you, and would be lov'd fain,
But am betroth'd unto your enemy;
Divorce me, untie or break that knot again,
Take me to you, imprison me, for I,
Except you enthrall me, never shall be free,
Nor ever chaste, except you ravish me.

Unlike Yuletide, when I get fics in any Middle Earth type exchanges, I usually have someone I know a bit (and who knows me) writing for me. For the fic series, “In the Halls of the King” Caras_Galadhon wrote me a pair of fics (for two Lord of the Rings Secret Santa fic exchanges). You can find them at the series link page here.
“In the Cavern of the King.” Thorin/Thranduil. Mirkwood Spider/Thranduil.
This fic really did surprise me when I clicked into it, because I frankly wasn’t expecting spiders. While I am deeply bug phobic, I’m good with the eight-legged hunter-killers that prey on them. And, well, I saw them in a whole new light after this fic.
“In the Chamber of the King.” Thorin/Thranduil.
Because I constantly rave about how much I loved my deeply twisted and wrong (and hot) spider fic, one other holiday exchange I got a spider-free follow up.
Since Caras_Galadhon is a friend, she said that when she has to write for me, she looks at the pairing or prompt I’ve included and thinks, “What’s the most fucked-up thing I could write with this? It should be creepy and sexy and hot.” She’s a good friend. Who knows me well. ^_^
