Last night, there was a knock on the door just as I was getting ready to take the pup out for her late evening stroll. Unusual. I was a bit annoyed, assuming it was someone knocking on the wrong door. However, when I opened the door, it was to a police officer. Unexpected that. Apparently, a child went missing from the building next to mine. They were going apartment to apartment to ask if anyone had seen him. When I took Ripley out, there were groups of residents wtih flashlights roaming the complex and the woods behind my building.
I'm not sure if they found him, but I hope they did.
I do have a new word to add to my vocabulary, thanks to the new team I'm working with on project management. The word is "kludgy." Based on context, I was guessing it was something like "hinky," but after hearing several people use it, I had to look it up. It is pronounced KLOO GEE and is the adjectival form of kludge.
KLUDGE (noun)
1. A system, especially a computer system, that is constituted of poorly matched elements or of elements originally intended for other applications.
2. A clumsy or inelegant solution to a problem.
Tomorrow is the last day for our intern. She has a month off for exams and graduation and a trip to Africa. Then she comes back as part of a company-wide intern/leadership building program where she'll spend time at three different sites in our company rotating between departments at each site and between sites to build a broad base of knowledge about the company. What this means for me is getting up a bit early tomorrow so I can pick her up a card.

Your new word almost made me spew tea over the keyboard because in Scots a cludgy/cludgie/kludgie (a short 'u' to rhyme with fudge) is an outside toilet. *g*
