So you know that feeling that is rather like a herd of rabid yak stampeded over you multiple times? That's rather like how today was. Still way too tired and achy, though I expect that will be better tomorrow and that the cloud will have completely lifted over the weekend. And speaking of the weekend, it's OMG!MOVIES! weekend.

I know that I'm going to see Brave because it's Pixar, and Pixar is made of ultimate win. Even if it wasn't, it has the new Hobbit trailer, so it's like stuffed full of even more joy. Here's a bonus 22 rules of storytelling from Pixar storyboardist Emma Coats.

Now, Brave is fairly short (as all animated films tend to be), so I could also see Abe Lincoln. On one hand, I'm not so excited by American history. On the other, VAMPIRES and RUFUS SEWELL. I could double-dip and see the two new movies. Or I could use my free movie pass (which won't work on the new stuff) to see Avengers or Prometheus again, and see one of them and one of the new movies.

Decisions. Decisions.

I picked up a YA called Star-Crossed by Josephine Angelini. The cover struck me as too twee, and I wasn't sure of it, but OMG! I really like it. It's like Percy Jackson (but better) with a woman as the lead. I love what Angelini has done with Greek mythology and building up the societies of the demigods. I have to pick up Dreamless, the next book in the series. I had a moment of hesitation where I went, "I could Nook it and have it now," but I like to have real books for ones that I especially enjoy.

When I was in PA a few weeks back, [livejournal.com profile] slyspider and I stopped in at Ulta. I was looking for this new Urban Decay eyeshadow palette where you can buy the individual colors and swap them in and out off the six-color holder. However, sadly, the store was sold out. I did manage to score one at my local Ulta here, so I'm awash in eyeshadow glee. This is the first time I'm trying Urban Decay shades, but I like the vibrancy of the colors. Not just boring shades or ones that go on lighter than they look. I'm regretting not picking up Mildew. I really liked that green.

I am not super-impressed with their lip stuff. They are absolutely my go-to brand for everything for eyes, but for lip stuff I tend to go for Stila's lip stains or Clinique's chubby lip pencils or their almost-lipstick... black honey is a gorgeous color that looks good on everybody, and the chubby pencils are dryer and less smeary than a lipstick.

The primer is pretty great... I also have Too Faced primer and they both work well. It will keep your makeup where it's supposed to be unless you do anything particularly odd to it. It does make the shadow harder to blend, though, so if you use it, make sure you're using a light hand with the shadow. The pencils will stay in place all day without anything unless you tend to rub your eyes.

And for mascara, by the way, Benefit's "They're Real" can't be beat.
