Lesson of the Day: Even though you aren't going near the mall or an office supply store, going shopping on back-to-school tax holiday day is an undertaking only to be engaged in by the patient, the insane, or the uninitiated. I fell into that last category. I mean, should Michaels have had HUGE lines today? I didn't think so. I was wrong. So the shopping was a bit hit or miss. I got worn down by the crowds and the fact that by 3:00 PM when I went out, things had pretty much been picked over everywhere I went.
I finished MOONLIGHT today, and I was impressed by how many ways it subverted romance tropes. It did so even more than FIRELIGHT, and in addition to interesting characters and a great story, I'm enjoying how the bigger word/cosmology is being revealed. I can honestly say that some of the supernatural creatures are like nothing I've read before. Reviews of both books forthcoming, I promise.
I bought a Pilot Plumix fountain pen because, well, I love fountain pens, but I'm always terrified to take my Mount Blanc with me anywhere because it's so expensive and I'd be sick if anything happened to it. The Plumix looks very cool in terms of design, and it's surprisingly light to hold. However, the nib, well, let's just say that if you're written with a good quality fountain pen, this will leave you feeling more than a little cold. *sigh*
Also, I have to say that I'm looking forward to the resumption of normal television programming next week. I've enjoyed the Olympics as much as I can with our for-shit coverage, but I've been getting tired of everything being repeats.

I'll be reading Firelight on my flight/vacation! I can't wait! I started reading a couple pages (just read the sword fight between the kids which was amusing) I hope I enjoy this book!
And this post gives me an excuse to use this icon!!

The swordfight opening is pretty much what convinced me to download the book. I thought, "This is snappy, well paced, and wow, it's different from what I'd expect from a Victorian fantasy. Sign me up!"
I hope you'll like it.

I have 100 pages left (and two long flights to get home) so I'm trying SO hard to get Moonglow before I go home! I didn't think I'd care about the sequel but I love the world and characters!
Thank you SO damn much! Seriously, I've almost completely given up on reading so to find an author that sucks me in so deeply and FINALLY some quality reading, *HUGS* THANK YOU
