Well, this week has been a week. My teammate has been out for the third week in a row, and I've been so slammed I've been working late and through lunch, spending the evening stressed and jittery and exhausted. I'm just beaten down. Beaten down. I nearly snapped at work yesterday, and then after I met with the dietician and she talked me off the ledge, I went back to my desk and off-loaded some work to other people. I have to get used to thinking this as setting realistic expectations and boundaries, not as showing weakness.

Reasons I love my job: Sitting in my boss's office when my former boss comes in (both men about 10+ years older than I) and the two of them have a nice chat about colonoscopies. And my former boss, who has intestinal issues, talked about his gastric surgeon "snaking him out" right there in his office. And...well...I couldn't quite help myself when former boss was woeing about the horror of the colonoscopy while current boss's eyebrows are like retreating into his hairline, I might have said, "You know, this is the guy equivalent of the pregnant woman coming into the room and all the other women who have been through childbirth start telling birthing horror stories."

Because that was totally what it was.

One good thing about the week: Blood Orange Sorbet. They had it at the grocery store on sale, and it's so fucking delicious. Better yet, it's on sale at the moment, so I think I'm going to stock up a bit. They have some other more exotic fruit sorbets, so I'm in yummy frozen fruity bliss.

I'm desperately jealous of all of you who have seen The Accused. I've been avoiding clicking into posts so I'm not spoiled, but OMG, [livejournal.com profile] splix, "The Lady of Shallott" is one of my favorite poems ever, and Loreena McKennitt's song of the poem is a favorite song. This excites me. Lots and lots. I might have a fondness for the tragically cursed. I remeber having waves of goosebumps shiver over me when a friend in Germany read Goethe's "Der Erlkoenig" one night while we were sitting on the balcony.

So i've been a bit scarce the last few days, and I'm in desperate need of catching up on what everyone has been up to.

The use of it in the show is really resonant. I think you'll love it, I do.

And I adore that song, too!

BTW, is Elena [sp?] the scariest individual on Project Runway ever, or what? She terrifies me.

Dude. She is a fucking horror show. I'm waiting for her to pick up some scissors and commence with the stabbity on the entire room.

My sisters and I were watching tonight and going "Dimitry! Watch your back! LITERALLY!"

I KNOW!!! When Dimitry said that he would send her home, I thought she was going to go Freddy Krueger on him right there on the runway. ^_^

You intrigue me with the Lady of Shallott. I've always loved that poem and I may have to track down that recording. *checks iTunes* Ah, there it is!!

It's a lovely song. She has another similar one from the poem "The Highwayman" that is also a favorite.

I haven't seen The Accused yet, either, so tell me: how do we Americans procure a copy of this, me dear?

Or I'm just... too lazy to find it? LOL

I have no idea! Fill me in? :D

OH GOD LOREENA MCKENNITT'S VERSION. I've had it playing on repeat for the past two days. It's such a beautiful rendition of a gorgeous poem.

Also, do you need a copy? 8D?

Thanks for offering, but I have all her CD's. I really love her music. "Dante's Prayer" and "The Highwayman" are two other favorites.

Oh, and before I forget, your 4-part VigBean with Sean/Nikolaj you posted last weekend was the first fic I've read in a long, long time and I literally couldn't stop until I got to the end. I also like the GoT one (the Kit/Richard) you posted today.

No I don't mean the song. I mean the episode. Because Govi is a lovely angel. 8D

Eeeeee, thank you so much! I'm glad you like both of them. /rolls onto. It reminds me that I have to go through my memories and leave comments on the fics of yours that I read voraciously and loved during my lurker days.

OMG - if only I could have learned this ages ago. Best description ever.

Good luck. :)

I still struggle with this. I guess it's one thing to know it and another to KNOW it.

If you know what I mean. ^_~
