I went to see TTT with friends yesterday. A friend and her husband to be precise. However, we ran into another friend and her husband at the theatre.

After the movie as we're leaving and the friend I went with says to the other one, "Yeah, Aragorn is just"--Sigh!--"wonderful." Then there is a slight pause. "You know the guy who plays the part doesn't really look anything like that at all." Shakes her head. Shrugs.

Grrrr.... I pull the hood of my coat over my head and try to melt back into its shadows. I hope this will prevent my friend from turning around and trying to solicit my opinion. Though I prepare a response just in case.

"No, on his own, Viggo isn't handsome at all. Just awful to look at. Makes my eyes bleed."

I'm almost sad I don't get to say it.

The hour is late, but my grading is now done. Let the celebration commence!
My sister stopped at The Buddha's Head this afternoon to buy incense (which she did) and look for tranquility balls (no purchase in that department).

When she was checking out, she asked the guy behind the register if the music that was playing was The Fellowship of the Ring soundtrack. It was. He asked her if she had seen The Two Towers. She hasn't yet.

He liked TTT quite a lot, though he said there was one really awful moment. She warned him not to give anything away, so all he told her is that when something was falling you could see a box around it, drawing attention to how the CGI was mapped in. I am assuming that he's talking about Gandalf and the Balrog here.

Anyone notice a glaring problem with the CG in this scene?
OK, I've seen the movie four times, so I think I'm entitled to point out that when it appears that Pippin is going to crushed by the horse that is rearing above him, his hands are not bound. However, later, after rolling away, he is cutting the rope binding his hands to free himself.
