I don't suppose it will come as a surprise to any of you that Alien is one of my best-beloved films of all time. So when I heard "prequel" and "Ridley Scott" mentioned in connection to Prometheus, it make my inner fangirl quiver with unabashed glee. Of course, there is always the chance that a film like this will simply buckle under the weight of all that fannish expectation and anticipation. However, I'm happy to report that Prometheus is more than up to the challenge.

It’s rare that a movie like Prometheus can live up to expectation. Rarer still that a good SF and horror film (because it is both) can also manage to be smart, well acted, well written, and well directed. Prometheus is all those things and more. If you haven’t seen it already, what are you waiting for?
