Today was a very good day. The weather here has turned cooler, so walking outside was pleasant, not a chore. The day was overcast, a bright gray full of active puffy clouds, and since I'm a "sunlight optional" kinda girl, I quite liked that too. There was football to watch and laundry to wrangle into submission. There was some light straightening and tidying up to be done.

Better still, there were stories. I finished reading Jonathan Maberry's THE DRAGON FACTORY, second in his Joe Ledger series. While parts of it strained my suspension of disbelief, the main plotline of bioteach gone wrong was even more evil than what was in PATIENT ZERO. I also started the third book in the series THE KING OF PLAGUES. Happily, it has picked up on a thread left hanging in a tantalizing way in PATIENT ZERO, and that makes me happy.

I did a little thinking about this coming ICFA. I'm honestly not sure what to write about this year. At all. Usually, I have some things that I'm worrying between my teeth, and while I do, they're sort of all over the board. I've been reading a lot of YA, especially post-apocalyptic YA, so there's that. I've become enamored of many of the new fantasy shows on television. Neil Gaiman is the GoH this year, and it has been awhile since I did a paper on his works. The overall conference theme is on adaptation, which is suited for papers on fan works. *headdesks*

Everything is all awhirl in the idea center of my brain lately. It's like little dust devils are constantly vortexing their way about the room, throwing things into chaos while I'm working in vain to tidy them up. I'm sure this moment too will pass. It'll just be damned annoying until it does.

This week at work is both good and bad. Good because many people will be off-site at a meeting most of the week. That usually means less for me to do. However, I had carryover shit from last week, and that means that I'm starting out in the hole. If things are, in fact, quiet and I can make a big push on Monday/Tuesday, I might just be in store for a good Wednesday/Thursday/Friday. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
