Mom is feeling better today and is in high spirits. According to my sis, when Mom went in for blood on Thursday, the doctor hadn't prescribed Lasix, since she was only getting one unit. He always orders it when she needs two. However, this time, the addition of the fluid without the Lasix to help get rid of it nudged her into congestive heart failure. The elevated white cell count was from a urinary tract infection. Luckily, this time my sis caught things early and got her to the hospital before she was actively crashing.
We also discovered that Mom is allergic to Cipro, which apparently is the antibiotic of choice for UTI's. After they started it in the IV, her hand started to itch and swell. My sis was like, "Give her something else. Unless she has anthrax in her bladder." The nurse laughed.
Things are better with me today too. I'm rested, have fridge full of groceries. I spent time straightening the YA bookshelf to make room for academic/writing books. I played with the pup and played computer games.
