It's surprising how many managers/directors think that surrounding themselves by people smarter than them is a bad idea. Honestly, I would want the best and brightest around me, because that allows everyone to shine and to make good things great things. I get that people feel threatened because they're deeply insecure and afraid of being upstaged, but when things are coming apart and people are offering their experience and help, turning them away because you can't admit you're wrong or can't accept trying something new or admitting you need help, makes you a douchebag.

Mini-rant brought to you by a work week that can't be over soon enough.

Ughhhhhhhhhhh yes agreed 100%. I love surrounding myself with awesome, creative and bright people. They inspire me to work above and beyond what I might typically do. It's a good thing! People need people. Well put girl.

And how many of them are men with their closed minds! Ho hum.
Keep going, only a few hours left now! Enjoy the weekend!!!!

I want everyone around me to be smarter than me, all the time! I'm insecure too, but I never want to be thwarted. I don't get that behavior at all.

Oh yeah. I'm so over people who are threatened by my brains - I'm not dangerous. ;-)
