Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow...

I've been sitting here watching Grimm and Emerald City and listening to the sleet hissing against the windows for the last 2.5 hours. It hasn't switched over to snow yet, so there's that to look forward to. Back North, this wouldn't be anything to fuss about, but down here in the ATL with no plows or salting, it's a weather catastrophe.

The grocery store tonight looked like people were prepping for the zombie apocalypse. No eggs, little water, little bread. All the main staples were picked clean. But the little hound and I have food and drink, so we'll settle in and watch the Wild Card games and eat potato pancakes and kielbasa tomorrow.

And ignore the snow.

Yeah, we're poised for another nasty ice/snow storm here in Portland, and we just got back from the big grocery store on the east side of town--*lots* of things they were out of, but we got what we needed, and then subdued hungry stomachs with a trip to the new Indian grocery store nearby (paneer pakoras, my great love...) which also has a deli.

Here's our 2-day forecast:

Tonight: A chance of flurries after 4am. Increasing clouds, with a low around 24. Breezy, with an east wind 22 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 38 mph.

Saturday: A chance of flurries before 10am, then snow likely between 10am and 1pm, then snow and sleet after 1pm. High near 30. Windy, with an east wind around 31 mph, with gusts as high as 46 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow and sleet accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Saturday Night: Freezing rain, possibly mixed with snow and sleet, becoming all freezing rain after 10pm. Low around 29. Windy, with an east wind around 30 mph, with gusts as high as 45 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New ice accumulation of 0.1 to 0.3 of an inch possible. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Sunday: Freezing rain before 10am, then rain or freezing rain. High near 32. Windy, with an east wind around 32 mph, with gusts as high as 48 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Yeeeahhh... doesn't look like we're getting out of the house this weekend. We'd planned getting together with friends for Indian food tomorrow--we'll see if that happens.

Stay warm, you and the little hound, and enjoy your potato pancakes and kielbasa!

Oh, man. Here's hoping the snowstorm isn't too crazy when it changes over from sleet. I feel bad about your grocery store. The only weather precautions we have to take here in the desert is keeping bottled water on hand in summer and paying attention to flash flood warnings during monsoon season.

There is a tiny bit of snow here, and the news is making it sound like the end of times. I'd have been amused by it all if I didn't have to leave the house: I'm not overly fond of snow in any quantity so yeah, I'm a bit miffed. Enjoy your day!

How is Emerald City? Debating giving it a go.

I'm just about 2 1/2 hours south of ATL and it's not snowing (it snows here maybe every 4 years & sticks maybe every 8 years). It has finally turned off cold though.
Hope y'all all stay safe & warm
