Class tonight was hard. Really hard. We did 30 seconds work/30 seconds rest spurts in two groups. The groups alternated between cardio (jogging, quick steps, mountain climbing, etc.) and strength training with the resistance bands (overhead presses, chest presses, overhead holds, lunges using the bands, side stepping with the bands providing resistance). After that, we did a lot of squats and lunges. And after that, we did three rounds of push ups.
One woman took a breather in the middle of class, and another guy on my team (not my boss) was light-headed toward the end and had to lie down on his back with his legs up. Class is turnig into quite an adventure that way.
After the cool down, there was much high fiving of each other. My lizard brain feels a rather primal surge of satifaction at high-fiving people while endorphins are humming madly through my blood (and theirs too). I was fired up for a good hour after class. Even though I was aching, it was all good.
Then I crashed. I just hurt all over. My shoulders, my arms, my neck, my back, my ass, my sides. I mean it was like the first class all over again. Possibly worse. I guess that means that I've built up enough to be putting more into what I'm doing. Which, in turn, leads to the misery of lactic acid build-up cooking my muscles.
I'm looking into getting some of the resistance bands, since I really like working with them. The ones we use in class aren't like the strips or circle of latex like material you usually see at Dick's or the workout area in Target. No. These fuckers are like thick, heavy, giant rubber bands. My goal is to work my way up to the purple one. ^_^
